Introduction

There are two aspects to copyright.  The copyright that GENUKI holds is covered on this page. The inclusion of material within GENUKI from elsewhere is covered on this other page.

GENUKI Copyright

The information on the GENUKI (www.genuki.org.uk) website is copyright - moreover its form is such that it is also protected by database right. The content may be used for personal research only, should not be copied to other websites, and any additional restrictions that may be found on individual pages within GENUKI must be strictly adhered to.

Violation of these, or similar requirements could gravely harm the cooperation that GENUKI is obtaining from many information providers, and hence threaten its whole future.

Users of  GENUKI are permitted to copy short extracts from a few web pages of GENUKI into family history in printed or electronic form, free of charge and without seeking permission; however, they should acknowledge GENUKI as the source. For any commercial use, any copy of a substantial section of text or many small sections, any copy of a graphic, map or picture, Users must seek permission from the GENUKI Trustees, specifying the material and web page

Some contributors to GENUKI have set out the requirements for any use of their material in more detail. In particular for Transcriptions of entries from The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland (1868) by Colin Hinson and other material in Yorkshire and elsewhere  please refer to Colin's Terms and Conditions of Use

Disclaimer

Whilst we take every care to keep the information on our web pages accurate, we disclaim any warranty or representation, express or implied about its accuracy, completeness or appropriateness for a particular purpose.

Similarly GENUKI contains many hyperlinks and directives to sites developed by others. They are provided for your convenience only. We do not control nor guarantee the accuracy, relevance, timeliness, or completeness of such sites, and in the event of a link to such a site being 'broken', or otherwise unavailable, our only recourse is to remove that link.

Thus, you assume full responsibility for its use, and you understand and agree that neither GENUKI as an organisation nor any of its maintainers or providers are responsible or liable for any claim, loss or damage as a consequence.

The Standards we adhere to when transcribing sources for family history research are described in our  Accuracy Standard.
