Compliments of: John Mellors, UK ----------------------------------------------------- The old vicarage was pulled down 31 Jul 1856. Foundation of the new vicarage laid 12 Aug 1856. New Vicarage was finished 14 May 1857. NB: This old vicarage had been built in 1779 by the Revd William ODDIE vicar of Orston. 19 Apr 1861 - this day the lath & plaster screen between the chancel & nave of Orston Church was removed. 17 Nov 1861 - this day the Bishop of Lincoln preached morning & evening in the parish church of Orston in behalf of the Chancel Restoration fund. The united offertories amounted to £42-16s-0 4 Sep 1864 - the font was used for the first time, since restoration, having been removed from the north side of the pillar nearest the west door & placed at west end of church on a base of stonework & Mintons Tiles. 6 Nov 1864 - the organ which stood formerly where font is now placed , was reopened, having been turned a finger organ, 7 erected in the chancel. The offertories in aid of the organ fund amounted to £15-0s-6d 1856 - the yew trees in Orston Churchyard were planted.
