RISELEY:
Geographical and Historical information from the year 1835.

"RISELEY, a parish in the hundred of STODDEN, county of BEDFORD, 5 miles (S. W. by W.) from Kimbolton, containing 790 inhabitants. The living is a vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Bedford, and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £8. 7. 6., and in the patronage of Lord St. John. The church is dedicated to All Saints. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists, and a Moravian establishment. A fair is held on Shrove Tuesday. Near Melchburne House, the seat of Lord St. John, are the remains of the old castle, from-which the family derive their title."
