Description and Travel
"TANSLEY, a hamlet in the parish of Crich, hundred of Wirksworth, county Derby, 5 miles N.E. of Crich, and 1½ mile E. of Matlock, its railway station and post town. The village contains a candlewick and small-ware manufactory. The living is a perpetual curacy in the diocese of Lichfield, value £100, in the patronage of the Vicar of Crich."

- This parish was in the ancient Wirksworth Hundred (or Wapentake).
- Tansley was incorporated from part of Crich Civil Parish as its own Civil Parish in December, 1866. It covers 1,137 acres.
