Some notes on the brasses, heraldry, and monuments in East Allington church
by
Maxwell Adams
Devon Notes and Queries Queries 2:4, (1902) pp. 97-105, plates: illus.
Prepared by Michael Steer
The Church of St. Andrew's overlooks the village from a hillside position. It was at the Church, on 12 November 1943 that the announcement was first made to the people of the South Hams that they were all to be evacuated from the area by 20 December that year. This was because The War Office had chosen to use Slapton Sands to rehearse the D-Day landings. Google with the Archive Organization has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries. The Internet Archive makes available, in its Community Texts Collection (originally known as Open Source Books), books that have been digitised by Google from a number of libraries. These are books on which copyright has expired, and are available free for educational and research use. This rare book was produced from a copy held by the New York Public Library, and is available from the Internet Archive.
