EAST BUCKLAND

[Description(s) from The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland (1868)]

"EAST BUCKLAND, a parish in the hundred of Braunton, in the county of Devon, 4 miles to the N. of South Melton. The living is a rectory* in the diocese of Exeter, of the value with that of Buckland-Filleigh, of £286, in the patronage of Earl Fortescue. The church is dedicated to St. Michael. There is a chapel for Wesleyans in the village. The parochial charities, consisting of the produce of parish lands, amount to £22 per annum.
