In the name of God, Amen.

I Gilbert Philpe of Morchard Epi in the county of Devon husbandman being sicke of bodye but perfect of memorye thanks be to Almightie God I doe make and ordaine this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following

Imprimis I give and bequeath my Soule to Almighty God and my body to the Christian buryall.

Item I give and bequeath unto three of John Philps children and unto three of Humphrey Philps children and unto three of Robert Chadleys children my sons Twelve pence a peece

Item I give and bequeath unto George Treepe alias Horthman fortie shillings and him that keeps him is to have the money

Item I give and bequeath unto Gilbert Philpe my son two kyne

Item I give unto Humphrey Philpe Gilbert Philpe and Robert Chadley my sonnes one mattock a peece

Item I give all my goods and chattels not given and bequeathed I give and bequeath unto Johane Philp my wife whom I make my whole and sole executrix of this my last Will and Testament and I doe make and ordaine John Philpe my son and John How of Morchard aforesaid to be the Rulers of this my last Will and Testament

In witness whereof I have here unto sett my hand and seale ye upon the second day of June in the one and twentieth year of the raigne of our Soveraigne Lord Charles by the Grace of God King of England, Scotland, France and Ireland, defender of the faithe. The one and twentieth day of June in the year of our Lord God one thousand six hundred and fiftye five Administration issued forth to John Philpe the natural and lawful sonne of Gilbert Philpe late of Morchard Bishop in the County of Devon deceased to administer the goodes chattels and debtes of the said deceased according the tenor and effectes of the said deceaseds will because that Joane Phipe the relict and executrix named in the last Will and Testament of the said deceased departed this life alsoe before she had taken upon her the execution of the said deceaseds will she being sworne by commission truely to administer.
