"CRUNDALE, (or Crundell), a parish in the hundred of Wye, lathe of Shepway, in the county of Kent, 5½ miles N.E. of Ashford, and 2¾ N.E. of Wye station on the South-Eastern railway. The village is small. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Canterbury, value £344, in the patronage of Sir E. Filmer, Bart. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. The tithes were commuted in 1839. The charities amount to £8 per annum. There is a National school for both sexes. Roman urns and coins have been found. Sole Street and Clantigh are places here. A fair is held on Whitsun-Monday."
