Stawley

"STAWLEY, a parish in the hundred of Milverton, county Somerset, 6 miles N.W. of Wellington, its post town, and 5 S.W. of Wivelscombe. The village is situated on the river Tow, near the Bristol and Exeter railway. The inhabitants are wholly engaged in agriculture. The soil consists of clay and loam, with a subsoil of sandstone and limestone. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Bath and Wells, value £150. The church, dedicated to St. Michael, is an ancient structure, with a tower containing three bells. The register dates from 1528. There is a Sunday-school."
