ARMTHORPE:
Geographical and Historical information from the year 1868.

"ARMTHORPE, a parish in the southern division of the wapentake of Strafforth and Tickhill, in the West Riding of the county of York, 3 miles to the N.E. of Doncaster. It contains the hamlet of Nutwell. The living is a rectory* in the diocese of York, value £366, in the patronage of the lord chancellor. The church, which is small and has no tower, is dedicated to St. Mary. There is a school endowed by Ann Holmes, in 1689, with a small rent-charge, which has been augmented by an endowment of Sir Geo. Cooke."
