The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Killester contained the following places:

"KILLESTER, a parish in the barony of Coolock, county Dublin, province of Leinster, Ireland, 2 miles N.E. of Dublin, its post town. It is a little over a mile long, and barely a third of a mile broad. The parish is situated near Dublin Bay. The living is a rectory appropriated to Christ Church, Dublin. There are two Sunday-schools and one free day school. Killester House, formerly the seat of Viscount Newcomen, is the principal residence. In its grounds are the ruins of an abbey. The village was formerly the seat of the Coote family."
