The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Coolcraheen contained the following places:

"COOLCRAHEEN, a parish in the baronies of Crannagh and Fassadinin, in the county of Kilkenny, province of Leinster, Ireland, 3 miles to the N.E. of Freshford, its post town, and 5 S. W. of Castle-Comer. The surface consists of good land with limestone. The river Nore passes through the parish. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Ossory, value with Odagh, £337, in the patronage of the bishop. An evening school is held occasionally during the week. Here are ruins of Inchmore Castle and of the church."
