BAWN
"Bawn", or Blacknow,
a grange, in the barony of Galmoy, county of Kilkenny, and province of
Leinster. It is also called Baunrichen, and is said to been part of
the possesions of the monastery of Fertagh. In
ecclesiastical matters it is one of the denominations which constitute
the union of Burnchurch, in the dioces of Ossory. Fairs are held on
Ascension-day, July 8th, Sept. 8th, and Oct. 29th.
