The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Rosslee contained the following places:

"ROSSLEE, a parish in the barony of Carra, county Mayo, province of Connaught, Ireland, 6 miles S.S.E. of Castlebar. Hollymount is its post town. The soil is fertile, upon a substratum of limestone. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Tuam, value with Balla, £324, in the patronage of the bishop. It is joined to Balla in the Roman Catholic division. There is a school, also ruins of a castle at Clogher Lucas."
