In 1868, the parish of Dowdstown contained the following places:

"DOWDSTOWN, a parish in the barony of Skreen, in the county of Meath. province of Leinster, Ireland, 3 miles S.E. of Navan. Dunsoughlin is its post town. It is situated on the river Boyne. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Meath, value with Skreen, £507, in the patronage of the crown. Dowdestown House is the principal residence.
