The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Killummod contained the following places:

"KILLUMMOD, a parish in the barony of Boyle, county Roscommon, province of Connaught, Ireland, 5 miles N.E. of Elphin. Carrick-on-Shannon is its post town. It is near 5 miles long by 2 broad. The surface is extremely boggy, and abounds with numerous small lakes. It is traversed by the road from Croghan to Drumsna. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Elphin, value with Aughrim, £368, in the patronage of the bishop. There is a hedge-school.

"CROGHAN, a village in the parishes of Killukin, and Killummod, barony of Boyle, in the county of Roscommon, province of Connaught, Ireland. It is situated on the road from Boyle to Strokestown. There is a dispensary within the Boyle Poor-law Union, and petty sessions are held in the village. Fairs are held on Wednesday after Trinity Sunday, and on the 28th October."
