The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Clone contained the following places:

"CLONE, a parish in the barony of Scarawalsh, in the county of Wexford, province of Leinster, Ireland, 2 miles to the S. of Ferns. Enniscorthy is its post town. The soil is productive, and slate and freestone are obtained here. The parish is traversed by the road from Dublin to Wexford, and the rivers Bann and Slaney. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Ferns, value £308, in the patronage of the bishop. The church is a modern structure, built by a donation from the late Board of First Fruits. There is a Roman Catholic chapel and two day schools."
