The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Coolstuff contained the following places:

"COOLSTUFF, a parish in the barony of West Shelmaliere, in the county of Wexford, province of Leinster, Ireland, 1 mile E. of Taghmon, its post town. The surface consists generally of good land. The parish is traversed by the road from Wexford to Taghmon. Part of the Forth mountains lie within its limits. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Ferns, value £165, in the patronage of the bishop. There are three schools within the parish, but neither church nor chapel. There are ruins of Hearn's Castle.
