The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Llangennech contained the following places:

"LLANGENNECH, a parish in the hundred of Carnwallon, county Carmarthen, 4 miles N.E. of Llanelly, its post town, and 8 N.E. of Swansea. The Llanelly and Vale of Towey railway has a station here. It is situated on the river Llwchwr, or Lloughor, which here becomes a sluggish mud-banked stream. Coal of good quality is found, and worked for exportation. The living is a perpetual curacy in the diocese of St. David's, value £82. The church is dedicated to St. Gwynog. Llangennech Park is the principal residence. A fair is held on the 23rd October."
