BLETHERSTON [TREFELEN]

"BLETHERSTON, a parish, in the union of NARBERTH, hundred of DUNGLEDDY, county of PEMBROKE, SOUTH WALES, 7 miles (N.W. by N.) from Narberth; containing 371 inhabitants. This parish is situated in the eastern part of the county, and occupies a position on the left bank of the eastern Cleddy river. The rateable annual value has been returned at £953. 6.6. The living is a consolidated vicarage with Llawhaden. The impropriate tithes, payable to the chancellor of St. David's, have been commuted for a rent-charge of £116. 13. 4. and the vicarial for one of £58. 6. 8., both subject to rates, averaging £17. 18. 11. per annum. Several coins were found here about ten years ago, but they were immediately sold at Haverfordwest, and smelted; so that nothing is known of their date or history. There is an estate in this parish, called Langridge, which belongs to the Bishop of St. David's." [From A Topographical Dictionary of Wales (S. Lewis, 1844).]
