Who are we?
The computer resources required to provide this service come in a number of forms but the majority is kindly provided for us by a number of UK universities e.g. www.genuki.org.uk is sited at Manchester University.
If you would like to join us and help in the provision of the Genuki service then please take a look in more detail about how we do this.
Genealogical queries
If you want to ask questions about UK Genealogy, then the most appropriate places to do that are in the many e-mail lists that other organisations have set up. If you want to make your family tree available then http://www.genserv.com/ is one of the sites that provide a facility for doing this. Please do NOT send us general genealogical queries as it is very unlikely that we have the expertise (or time) to answer them. It may seem impolite but do not expect any reply to such queries. We are not professional researchers and in fact seem to have little enough time to do our own research let alone do any for anybody else as maintaining and expanding the genuki service takes a considerable part of our spare time. If the information that you want is not on the WWW pages, then we do not have it.
However if you do find any errors, or want to offer suggestions, or want to help with genuki, or have comments about a specific county or area then contact the maintainer of that area by using the contact links on the pages in that section of the site. In that way your comment will be directed to the appropriate maintainer. The county developers are grouped by country:
- English counties.
- Irish counties.
- Scottish counties.
- Welsh counties.
- Channel Islands.
- Isle of Man.
- Contact trustees.
- Contact all Genuki maintainers.
- You can copy short extracts from a few web pages of Genuki into your family history in printed or electronic form, free of charge and without seeking permission. Please acknowledge GENUKI as the source. For permission for any commercial use, any copy of a substantial section of text or many small sections, any copy of a graphic, map or picture, please contact Peter Christian, by email to permissions@genuki.org.uk in the first instance, specifying the material and web page. The question will also be referred to the maintainer of the individual page.
- We have a
facebook page where you
can post comments.
