Third Report of the Committee to Obtain Information as to Peculiar Tenures of Land

Trans. Devon. Assoc. vol. 14, (1882), pp. 181-185.

by

Edward Windeatt, Honorary Secretary

Prepared by Michael Steer

The Report, read at the Association's July 1882 Crediton meeting, provided an account of the manor court at Ashburton as still carried out there. This was intended to illustrate peculiarities of land tenure and manorial customs in ancient Devon. The Committee had intended to have reported on documents  relating  to the manor courts of the Pomeroys of Berry Castle, but the member  who  had  undertaken the work had been unable to complete it in time for the meeting. Google with the Archive Organization has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries. The Internet Archive makes available, in its Community Texts Collection (originally known as Open Source Books), books that have been digitised by Google from a number of libraries. These are books on which copyright has expired, and are available free for educational and research use. This rare book was produced from a copy held by the Princeton University Library, and is available from the Internet Archive.
