The Slannings of Leye, Bickleigh, and Maristow
Trans. Devon Assoc. vol. 20 (1888), pp. 304-305.
by
W. Jones
Prepared by Michael Steer
The paper, read at the Association's 1888 Exeter meeting follows the author's initial paper on the Slanning family delivered at its 1887 meeting. In it, Winslow Jones describes and discusses the brass memorial plate to William Denham (d. 1583) in Thorpe Church near Chertsey on which the first four lines are identical with corresponding lines on the Nicholas Slanning (d. 1583) memorial brass plate in Bickleigh Church. The paper concludes with a brief corrigenda for the earlier paper. Google with the Archive Organization has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries. The Internet Archive makes available, in its Community Texts Collection (originally known as Open Source Books), books that have been digitised by Google from a number of libraries. These are books on which copyright has expired, and are available free for educational and research use. This rare book was produced from a copy held by the Princeton University Library, and is available from the Internet Archive.
