"SUTCOMBE, a parish in the hundred of Black Torrington, county Devon, 6 miles N. of Holsworthy, its post town. The village is situated on the river Waldon. The living is a rectory* in the diocese of Exeter, value £300. The church is dedicated to St. Andrew. The parochial charities produce about £38 per annum, being the endowment of Sir W. Morice's almshouse."
