[Transcription copyright © Pat Newby]SIDESTRAND, or Syderstrand, on the coast, 3 miles E.S.E. of Cromer, has in its parish 161 souls, and 445 acres of land, partly belonging to Samuel Hoare, Esq., the lord of the manor, and partly to Mr. Flaxman Spurrell.
The CHURCH (St. Michael,) is a rectory, valued in the King's Book at £5. 10s., and now having 2A. 19P. of glebe, and a yearly rent of £106. 12s., awarded in 1838, in lieu of tithes. It was augmented with £200 of Queen Anne's Bounty, in 1810. The Rev. P. Johnson is incumbent, and the patronage is alternately in the Queen, as Duchess of Lancaster, and S. Hoare, Esq.
The poor have 2A. of land at Trimingham.
