"HAXBY, a parish in the wapentake of Byland, liberty of St. Peter's; 4 miles N.
of York. Here is a church, the living is a curacy, incumbent the Rev. John
Ellis, vicar of Strensall. There is also a Methodist chapel. Population, 417."
