Seventeenth Report (Third Series) of the Committee on the Climate of Devon.
Trans. Devon Assoc., 1899, Vol XXXI, pp. 101-109.
Edited by
Alfred Chandler, F.R. Met. Soc., and W. Ingham, C.E.
Prepared by Michael Steer
The Report was presented at the Association’s August 1899 Great Torrington meeting. A numerically diminished Committee had collected and tabulated meteorological observations taken in the preceding year. These data related to rainfall, temperature, humidity, cloud and sunshine. This index provides a record of the observer team participating in the project and identifies their observation stations. Observations were taken daily at 9 a.m., local time, excepting Salcombe (Prawle Point), which, being a Meteorological Office Station reads at 8 a.m. daily. Exeter Rainfall Observations taken at the Devon and Exeter Institution were again added this year; and Bere Alston data were provided for the first time. The Report, from a copy of a rare journal can be downloaded from the Internet Archive. Google has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries. These books, on which copyright has expired, are available for free educational and research use, both as individual books and as full collections to aid researchers.
