Twenty-third Report (Third Series) of the
Committee on the Climate of Devon
Trans. Devon Assoc., 1905, Vol XXXVII, pp. 96-110.
by
R. Hansford Worth (Ed.)
Prepared by Michael Steer
The Report was presented at the Association’s July 1905 Princetown meeting. It consists of meteorological observations related to Rainfall, Temperature, Humidity, Cloud, and Sunshine taken throughout Devon during 1904. A new rainfall station at Huccaby on the West Dart, with an elevation of 900 O.D., appears for the first time, with Mr. Robert Barnard as observer and a new gauge at Mardon on the Torquay watershed is also entered. Observations at all stations were taken at 9 a.m. daily, local time, excepting Blackingstone, Laployd, Cowsic, and Siward's Cross, where either weekly or monthly gauges were used, and Devil's Tor, which is read irregularly, and reported only in the annual return. The Report, from a copy of a rare journal can be downloaded from the Internet Archive. Google has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries. These books, on which copyright has expired, are available for free educational and research use, both as individual books and as full collections to aid researchers.
