Thirty-Third Report of the Committee on Devonshire Verbal Provincialisms
Trans. Devon Assoc., vol. 52, (1920), pp. 62-77.
by
Charles H. Laycock (Ed.)
Prepared by Michael Steer
The Committee’s Report was read at its 21st July 1920 Totnes meeting. The Committee’s purpose was to note and record the current and past use of any Verbal Provincialisms in Devonshire, in either written or spoken language, that were not included in the lists published in the Association’s Transactions. As an aid to research, the Rules and Regulations of this Committee were last reprinted with the Twenty-eighth Report in 1915, Vol. XL VII, p. 94; together with a complete Index of all the dialect words contained in Reports 1-28 inclusive. The Report, from a copy of a rare and much sought-after journal can be downloaded from the Internet Archive. Google has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries. These books, on which copyright has expired, are available for free educational and research use, both as individual books and as full collections to aid researchers.
