In the Name of God Amen
Will of George Pooke of Thorverton
In the name of God Amen
I George Pooke of Thorverton in the county of Devon yeoman doe make this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following
In primis I give my soule unto Gods trusting only in the meritts of his sonne and my Lord Jesus Christ for my salvation and my body to Christian burial.
Item I give to the poore of the parish aforesaid forty shillings
Item I give unto my daughter Mary the summe of one hundred pounds to be paid the day of her marriage or when she shall accomplish the age of one and twenty years.
Item I give to my same daughter Mary the remainder of that estate I have in Little Bowley she to have the benefit of that estate after she shall accomplish the age of sixteen years and not before.
Item I give unto my God Sonne John Blackmore forty shillings to be paid within five years after my decease.
Item I give unto my brother Anthony Pooke forty shillings to be paid within halfe a yeare after my decease.
Item I give to all the servants that shall be in my house the time of my death five shillings apiece.
Thereof of my goods and chattels not before given or bequeathed I give and bequeath to Joane Pooke my wife whome I make whole and sole executrix of this my last Will and testament.
And I doe ordaine and desire to ordaine Lawrence Rowe my kinsmen Zachary Trabord my loving neighbour and William Manning my brother in lawe to be overseers of this my last Will and testament and to assist my said executrix in the discharge of this my last Will and Testament
In witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale the last day of August in the yeare of our Lord one thousand six hundred fiftie eight George Pooke

This Will was proved at London sixteenth day of the month of October in the yeare of our Lord God one thousand six hundred fifty and eight before the judges for probate of Wills and granting administration lawfully authorized by the oath of Joane Pooke the relict and sole executrix named in the above written Will to whom administration of all and singular the goods chattels and debts of the said deceased was granted and committed the being first legally sworn truly and faithfully to administering the same by virtue of a sworn commission
