Apportionment of the Rent-Charge in lieu of Tithes in the Parish of Brinkworth in the County of Wilts.
Whereas an award of Rent-Charge in lieu of Tithes in the Parish of Brinkworth in the County of Wilts was, on the twelfth day of October in the Year One Thousand Eight Hundred and Forty, confirmed by the Tithe Commissioners for England and Wales, of which Award, with the Schedule therein comprised & annexed, the following is a copy.
Know all men by these presents that I Aneurin Owen having been duly appointed and sworn an assistant Tithe Commissioner according to the provisions of the Act for the Commutation of Tithes in England and Wales and having been also duly appointed to ascertain and award the total sum to be paid by way of Rent charge instead of the tithes of the parish of Brinkworth in the County of Wilts Do hereby award as follows that is to say.
Whereas I have held a meeting in the said parish touching the matter aforesaid of which meeting due notice was given for the information of the landowners and titheowners of the said parish
And whereas I find that the estimated quantity in Statute measure of all the lands of the said Parish amounts to Five thousand four hundred and fifty acres two roods & nine perches which are cultivated as follows that is to say.
Four hundred and seventy two acres as arable land.
Three thousand one hundred amd eighty one acres as meadow and pasture land
Thirty two acres as homesteads
One thousand six hundred and thirteen acres is tithe free, and
One hundred and fifty two acres is Glebe Lands.And whereas I find that certain lands in the said parish are free by prescription from any render of tithes as particularized in the schedule annexed to this award
And whereas I find that the Rector of the said parish for the time being is entitled to all the tithes thereof except as before excepted
And whereas I have estimated the clear annual value of the said tithes in the manner directed by the said Act of Parliament and have also taken into account the rates and assessments paid in respect of such tithes during the seven years of average prescribed by the said Act
Now know ye that I the said Anuerin Owen do hereby award that the annual sum of Seven hundred and forty pounds by way of Rent charge subject to the provisions of the said Act shall be paid to the Rector of the said parish for the time being instead of the tithes arising in the said parish except the Glebe, and that the further sum of Thirty Pounds by way of Rent charge subject to the provisions of the said Act shall be paid to the said Rector for the time being instead of the tithes arising from the Glebe lands of the said parish and a proportionate sum for any part thereof when not in the occupation of the Rector himself.
And I do hereby further award that the said Rent charges shall commence on the First day of April preceding the confirmation of the Apportionment.
