In 1868, the parish of Dunseverick Castle contained the following places:

"DUNSEVERICK CASTLE, a parish in the barony of Carey, in the county of Antrim, province of Ulster, Ireland. It stands near the Giant's Causeway, and occupies a position on an insulated rock. It was the ancient seat of the O'Cahans and O'Donnels, and is an object of interest on this remarkable coast."
