"KNOCKBRIDE, a parish in the barony of Clankee, county Cavan, province of Ulster, Ireland, 3 miles N.W. of Ballieborough, its post town. It is 7½ miles long, and its greatest breadth is 4 miles. The surface is boggy, and includes several loughs. The parish is crossed by the road from Dublin to Clones. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Kilmore, value £445, in the patronage of the bishop. The church was built by means of a loan from the late Board of First Fruits in 1825. There are two Roman Catholic chapels, a Presbyterian and a Methodist meeting-house, also several day schools within the parish. Killaliss is the principal residence."
