The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Kilmactalway contained the following places:

"KILMACTALWAY, a parish in the barony of Newcastle, county Dublin, province of Leinster, Ireland, 7 miles S.W. of Dublin. It is 1 mile long and about half a mile in breadth. The soil is mostly good. The Grand canal passes in the immediate vicinity. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Dublin, value with Clondalkin, £430, in the patronage of the archbishop. Castle Baggot is the principal residence."

"MILLTOWN, a village in the parish of Kilmactalway, barony of Newcastle, county Dublin, province of Leinster, Ireland, 2 miles N.E. of Newcastle. It is situated on the road from thence to Dublin. Milltown House is the principal seat."
