In 1868, the parish of Taghboy contained the following places:

"TAGHBOY, a parish in the baronies of Killian and Athlone, county Galway and county Roscommon, province of Connaught, Ireland, 12 miles N. of Ballinasloe. Roscommon is its post town. It is situated on the river Suck, and consists of a light soil, including some bog. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Elphin, value £111, in the patronage of the bishop. There are three schools. Claremont is the principal residence. There is a mineral spring in this parish, also a police station."
