The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Kyle contained the following places:

"KYLE, a parish in the barony of Clandonagh, Queen's County, province of Leinster, Ireland, 2 miles W.N.W. of Borris-in-Ossory. The parish is about 3½ miles in length, and the same in breadth. The surface, which is boggy, is traversed by the road from Dublin to Limerick. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Killaloe, value with Roscrea, £466, in the patronage of the bishop. The Roman Catholic chapel is united to that of Roscrea. There are two day schools. Kyle House and Kilmartin Lodge are the chief residences."
