The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Balrathboyne contained the following places:

"BALRATHBOYNE, (or Rathboyne), a parish in the baronies of Upper Kells and Lower Navan, in the county of Meath, province of Leinster, Ireland, 2 miles to the S. of Kells. The district is fertile and contains much limestone. The river Blackwater flows near the parish on the north-east. The living is a rectory united with that of Kells, in the diocese of Meath.

In 1868, the parish of Rathboyne contained the following places:

"RATHBOYNE, a parish in the baronies of Lower and Upper Kells, county Meath, province of Munster, Ireland, 2½ miles S.E. of Kells. It is traversed by the roads from Kells to Kilcock, and from Longford to Drogheda. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Meath, and is joined to the benefice of Kells (which see). The Roman Catholic chapel is united to that of Ardbraccan. There is a school endowed by C. T. Tisdale, Esq. Ballybeg and Charlesfoot are the chief residences. There is an extensive nursery-garden. Limestone is abundant."
