The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Kilcorkey contained the following places:

"KILCORKEY, a parish in the barony of Castlereagh, county Roscommon, province of Connaught, Ireland, containing the village of Bellanagare, 4 miles N.E. of Castlereagh. It is 3 miles long by the same in breadth. The surface is slightly hilly. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Elphin, in the patronage of the bishop. There is a Roman Catholic chapel, also three day schools. Bellanagare is the seat of The O'Connor Don, M.P."

"BELLANAGARE, a village in the parish of Kilcorkey, and barony of Castlereagh, in the county of Roscommon, province of Connaught, Ireland, 2 miles from Frenchpark. Bellanagare House is a modern mansion, the seat of The O'Connor Don, erected near the site of the old seat, which is dilapidated. Fairs are held in the village on the 6th January, and the first Wednesday in the months of March, August, and November."
