The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Killegney contained the following places:

"KILLEGNEY, a parish in the barony of Bantry, county Wexford, province of Leinster, Ireland, 8 miles S.W. of Enniscorthy. It is 4 miles long by 2 broad. The surface is bounded on the N. by the river Bore, and is intersected by the road from Enniscorthy to New Ross. It is somewhat of a hilly character, and the soil poor. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Ferns, value with another, £288, in the patronage of the bishop. The church was built by means of a loan in 1827. The Roman Catholic chapel is united to that of Chapel. There are a Sunday and two day schools in the parish. The living was held by Gordon, the historian, for some time. Castle-Borough is the residence of Lord Carew."
