The current building was constructed around 1816, replacing an older church nearby, in Quayside Street.

OPRs (Old Parish Registers) are available from 1615 (Births), 1605 (Marriages), and 1754 (Deaths), however, there are extensive gaps (eg, no marriages recorded 1706 - 1783).
