In the name of our Lord Amen 10 January 1671 And in the 3 and 20th year of the reign of our sovereign Lord Charles the Second by Grace of G King of England,Scotland France and Ireland Defender of the Faith.


I Thomas Howell of the parish of Convil Elvet in the County of Carmarthen gentleman being of sound mind and of good and strong remembrance Lands and Praise unto Almighty God and fearing the pangs of death to approach ? and findings to ? my worldly affairs in order to his Almighty God my maker and redeemer through whose ....and passions of hope only to be favoured and my body to the earth where it was formed and made of.....


I give and bequeath towards the reparations of the ? church of Convil Elvet 20 shillings.


Also I give to the poor of this parish 6 and 20 shillings and Abernant ten shillings. The last mentioned sums to be paid at Hollandtide next after my decease by my executor hereafter named.


ALSO I give devise and bequeath unto James Howell my son one messuage or tenement or common lands known by the name of Gilfach Jestin with the water grist mill there upon mill banks and water courses there unto belonging and also one .....and also Nant Glas and three other ......called Llayns y Karns LLaine  y Carne Llaine Tresill y cha with Gilfach Jestin and Llaine Cladda l y Dross to him and to his heirs and assigns forever. All the said ...messuages or tenements water grist mill... and ....of lands are set lying and being in the parish of Convil and the County aforesaid TO HAVE AND to hold the said messuage water grist mill .... and ....of lands afire revisited to the only...and behest of the said James Howell and his heirs forever.


ALSO I give devise and bequeath unto James Howell my son all the messuages or tenements of Lland y idalles and known by the name of of Blanenant y Skorfrey sett lying and being in the tithe of Abernant within the county aforesaid this with said messuages or tenements of lands I have in mortgage of John Rees Howell late .....of Treisaf the sums of £40 to him and his heirs and assigns forever. And if it happens that the said messuages or tenements of land called Blanenant  Y SKorfrey be redeemed all the aforesaid sum my firm intent and meaning is that the said sum of £40 shall remain and continue to the said James Howell my son and to his heirs and assigns forever.


Also I give devise and bequeath unto James Howell my son one messuage or tenement of lands called Kilrhedin lying and being in Convil Elvet and aforesaid to have and to hold the said messuage or tenement of lands called Kilrhedin unto James Howell my son the messuage and tenements of land commonly known and called by the name of Ryd Havod Halog with the water grist mill there upon mill lands and water courses there unto belonging sett lying and being in Abernant and county aforesaid to have and to hold the said messuages tenements and lands called Ryd Havod Halog  and the water grist mill unto the said James Howell my son and to his heirs and assigns forever.

Also I give devise and bequeath unto James  Howell my son one messuage and land commonly called and known by the name of Bronallt y Transgroes lying and being in the parish of Abernant within the county aforesaid and ? of William Bevan ? to have and to hold lands called Bronallt y Transgroes unto James Howell my son and to his heirs and assigns forever.


Also I give devise and bequeath unto Thomas Henry ? my grandchild one messuage or tenement of lands commonly known as or called Cilwen in the ....of John Evan Vassey? set lying and being in the parish of Abernant within the said county TO HAVE and to hold the said message or tenements or land with the promise unto the said Thomas Henry and to his heirs and assigns forever.


Also I devise give and bequeath unto Thomas Howell my grandchild of lands commonly called and known by the overall name of Bryn y Ceirch and Llaine y Bailey both in the tenure of James Lewis set lying and being in the tithe of Conwyll and County aforesaid to have and to hold the side messuage or tenement of lands called Bryn y Ceirch and Llaine y Bailey both unto the said Thomas Howell my said grandchild and to his heirs and assigns forever.


ALSOE I give devise and bequeath for the said Thomas Howell my grandchild one messuage or tenement of lands commonly called and known by the name of  Rhydd y garregddu and Lloyns Tyddygareg? in the — and ——— Convyll Thomas David Thomas ——— left lying and being in Convil and ——a —fair TO have and to hold the fair messuage or tenement of lands called  Blane Byddygan and Plans ..yddygan to the said Thomas Howell my grandchild all messuages or tenements of lands commonly called and known by the name of Blane y Bryn sett lying and being in the tithes of Abernant in the county aforesaid until such time the said Thomas Howell his heirs and executors or assigns be benefitted satisfied and payed by Humphrey Howell my grandchild his heirs or assigns or given this —of goods and lawful money of England and after such payment be made by the said Humphrey unto the said Thomas then my firm intent and meaning is that the said Blane y Bryn have remain and continues unto the said Humphrey Howell and to his heirs and assigns forever.


ALSOE I give devise and bequest unto Edward Howell my grandchild messuages and tenements of land with appurtenances —- forever. ——- ———with the water grist mill there upon called Melyn Bronllan  Mill lands and water course ———belongings and sett by my ———— being in the Parish of Abernant in the said county to have and to hold the said messuage or tenement ———-and water grist mill to Edward Howell my grandchild and to his heirs and assigns forever.


Also I give devise and bequeath unto Rachel Howell and Mary Howell my grandchildren all that messuages ——or tenement of lands with appurtenances whatsoever commonly called and known by the Howell names of Crofty y cha and Blane Barth can y gown in as large and ample manner in as lands and ——-of manner as Thomas Evan now should and doth and —owneth the same sett lying and being in the tithe of Abernant within the county aforesaid. To have and to hold all the said messuages or tenements of lands called Crofty Ycha and Soalnd Fach yn y Cowin unto the said Rachell and Mary their heirs expired —-or assigns be fully satisfied contents of and payed by Edward Howell my grandchild his heirs or assigns of the sums of one hundred pounds of current English money:and after such payment be made by the said Edward Howell his heirs or assigns unto the said Rachell and Mary their heirs and assigns when my - intent and meaning is that the said lands  called Crofty Ycha and Soalnd Fach yn y Cowin and remain unto the Edward Howell my grandchild and to his heirs and assigns forever


ALSO I give devise and bequeath unto William Howell my grandchild all that ——— both ———— Cs’givern u ——a vell sett lying and being in Abernant and county aforesaid. To have and to hold the ———(crossed out) ——y———- unto the said William Howell and to his heirs and assigns forever.


ALSO I give devise and bequeath unto James Howell my sonn messuages and tenements of lands commonly called and known by the name of Bryn y Idol now sett lying and being in the tithe of Conwyll and county aforesaid and in the tenure and patron? of Rees Lewis TO have and to hold the said messuages or tenements of land called Bryn y Idol on unto James Howell my son and to his heirs and assigns forever.


ALSOE I further my will and mind is that my said son James Howell shall and may reasonably and quickly have hold on u—ierfs manner and money of all that ones messuages or tenements of land -herein known inhabitants and ———called and known by the special? names of Lethermoel Clawdd Both and lands Coed y Lain Vach together also with all that and other messuages or tenements of Llindy——-called and known by the small? names of Bryn y ldol, Alt Y Gorse : Laine Ffynnon Eynon and the Olchfa by Conwyll under the ? Confolds and the …….


All was overall said last revised messuages, lands and ——— —- situate lying and being within the tithe of Conwyll in the county aforesaid TO HAVE and to hold all and singular the messuages tenements lands and parcels of lands with all heirs and ——of heirs ——-and the positive rights members and appurtenances and every parts and parcel thereso. And at large example manner and forms as of the said Thomas Howell now holdeth and on the said promise? unto my said sonn James Howell his ———administrators and assigns from the last day of ———————- Llanhangell? shall have unto be and fall out next ———-for safe unto the full and all the charms of —————-from them I next in findings and fully to be completed and —————-The said James Howell my son and his progenitors administered to his assigns. Humphrey Howell my grandchild his heirs and assigns the Annual or yearly rent of six ponds of lawful money of England. All the feats? of the appointed Philipp and —-Jacob and Saint Michael y Charhangell by small portions ——the said charms of eleven whole years and in the end thereof the same to leave and ——— infant ably


Also I give and bequeath unto Humphrey Howell my grandchildren chest and a kettle?

ALSOE I give and bequeath unto Howell Howell and Mary Howell my grandchildren all my cows? or sheep which i haven this ————or day Griffith Beynon.


ALSOE I give and Bequeath unto Mary ? £5 of lawful English money ALSOE I give and bequeath unto David Thomas my man ? —shillings

Also I give and bequeath unto David Thomas ——shillings Also I give and bequeath unto Sydney Howell ten ? shillings


Also I give unto David Howell tenne shillings Also I give and bequeath unto Jenet Lewis my maid tenne shillings


ALL THE ———of my goods chattels and chattels movable and unlovable not given before or bequeathed I also give and bequeath unto James Howell my sonn whom I also make constitute appoint and ordain to be my sole and lawful


ALSO further I do herby revoke and annul ——-all other forms wills or testaments or ——— In avintlns for whereas I have ———this my will and testament to be made and have hereunto ———my hands and ———the days and years fixed above.
