In the name of God Amen. I Margaret Ward of the Parish of Blacktorrington in the County of Devon Widow, being weak in body but of perfect mind and memory do make or ordaine this my last will and testament and as touching my worldly Estate which it has pleased Almighty God to bless me with in this world I demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form. First I give and bequeath unto my beloved Son George Ward my Dwellingplace with the appurtenences thereunto belonging situated in Middlecott Common in the Parish of Blacktorrington and which is now in his occupation. Also I give him the sum of Twenty Pounds and the rent due to me at my decease for Middlecott Estate but if there should be more rent due at my decease than Twenty three Pounds then the overflow to be paid unto my Executor, but if my Son George Ward should make any dispute or refuse to pay the overflow of the rent due at my decease above twenty three pounds then I give him but ten pounds instead of twenty pounds. Secondly I give and bequeath unto my beloved Son Arscott Ward and my beloved daughters Elizabeth Bridgman Furse and Maria Penhale whom I constitute and make jointly my sole Executor and Executrixs to this my last will and testament all my goods and chattels and all my monies on securities and all monies due to me on book debts at my decease and I hereby appoint William Hockin Braund of the Parish of Blacktorrington Yeoman Executor in trust for my two daughters and be it well understood that if my son Arscott Ward should rather have the remainder of the term of my right that I have in the tenement near Shebbear Church Town commonly called Gowman's Close and which is held under a lease granted by the George Hockin Esq deceased to the late George Bridgman deceased then my will is that my son Arscott Ward is to have it in Seventy pounds, but if my Son does not like to take it in Seventy Pounds as a part of his Executorship to this my last will and testament then it is to be divided share and share alike between my Executor and Executrix's and them to pay and discharge my aforesaid legacee twelve months after my decease and all my just debts which is owing at my decease and my funeral expences and I hereby revoke and dis[.....] all other Will or Wills heretofore made by me and this and no other taken my last will and testament as witness my hand and seal this thirty first day of January One thousand and eight hundred and fifty
