Trans. Devon. Assoc. vol. 35 (1903), pp. 251-278.

by

Mrs. G.H. Radford

Prepared by Michael Steer

Nicholas Radford rose to be a lawyer of considerable standing in the West Country, especially in Devon where he was to serve on the bench for over 30 years. He was godfather to the second son of the Earl of Devon, whose eldest son Sir Thomas Courtenay instigated Radford's murder. The reason for the murder remains unknown but was probably connected to Radford's wealth. Radford's murder was considered one of the major crimes of its era Google with the Archive Organization has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries. The Internet Archive makes available, in its Community Texts Collection (originally known as Open Source Books), books that have been digitised by Google from a number of libraries. These are books on which copyright has expired, and are available free for educational and research use. This rare book was produced from a copy held by the New York Public Library, and is available from the Internet Archive.
