The said severall sums above mentioned are yet in arrear and if    
it be not paid I humbly request the Allowances of any or either of    
them to be paid to the next Overseers.    
     
     
An account of ye of them that have not paid their poor rate for ye£sd 
year 1748:    
     
William Winsor for his estate att Statacombe 80 
     
The above sume mentioned is yet in arrear and wee humbly    
Request the allowance to be paid to the next Overseers.    
     
     
Whereas John Fford; Thomas Stidston; Churchwardens and    
Peter Webber and Othenial Gidley Overseers have entered into a    
bond in the penalty of Fifty pounds unto Gregory Bridgeman clerk    
bearing date the 24th day of this Justant with condition thereunder    
written to indemnify the said Gregory Bridgeman for his repaying    
the sume of five pounds that he writ for the use of the parish of    
Holne from William Eadon and all costs that the said Gregory    
Bridgeman may hereafter sustain or be put unto. Now it is    
agreed at a parish meeting held this day that in case the said    
Gregory Bridgeman shall be put to any cost or charges that the    
same shall be taken out of the poor Rates as Witness our hand    
this said 24th day of April, 1749.

24th June 1750:    
     
Agreed with John Barter for wood for the poor one pound three    
shillings for one year and he is to pay for the wood that we have    
paid for All Redy and for the Rent of the House for one year one    
pound twelve shillings for the year 1750.    
     
     
[April] 1751:    
     
Agreed with John Barter for Hous Rent and wood for the Poor in    
year of 1751 One pound twelve shillings and sixpence for the    
Hous and Nineteen shillings and sixpence for the wood. And he    
is to allow five shillings for the [Doing Past] Back of that money.    
     
     
April 27th 1752:    
     
Memorandum and Agreement made Between the parishioners    
of the parish of Holne and Mr. Samuel Pretejohn of the parish of    
Buckfastleigh; The contents whereof are as follows:    
The said Mr. S. Pretejohn his to look after the poor people of the    
parish of Holne for the terme of Seven Years that are under monthly    
pay and that are like to come chargeable During the said term and    
the said Mr. Pretejohn his to give them suffishent ffisick during the    
said term. If there be any occasion and to Give Due attendance for    
the price of Ten Shillings and Sixpence a year or if any of ye Said    
poor people should happen to Break any Bone or bones during the    
said term or any other Disorder during the said term he is to doe it at    
the same price as Witness my hand': Samuel Prettejohn.

April 27th 1752:    
     
Memorandum and Agreement made between John Barter and the    
overseers within The parishioners of the parish of Holne the contents    
whereof of are as follows:    
The said John Barter hath Taken the poore people of Holne for the    
year 1752 and to find them house rent and wood during the term for    
one year. Which are, and the said John Barter his to have    
£2-12s-6d a year for keeping the poore people':    
     
     
July the 20th [1752]:    
     
Memorandum and Agreement made Between the parishioners of    
the parish of Holne the Contents where are as follows:    
     
The said Henry Warrine for the keeping of jane Harris child for the    
time before next Eastger for 1s 3d per week during the Terme.    
     
Tested by us; James Hamlyn - Henry Warren.    
     
     
11th day of April 1757:    
     
Paid Doctor Ley one Rate with the Provisor that he will free and    
Discharge Elizabeth Easterbrook widow for his attendance of old    
Elias Easterbrook Deceased the sum of one rate being six pounds

Mr. Elias Wright agreed and took the Orchard belonging to the    
Poor House for £1.2s.0d per year for seven years from the date    
hereof. The trees that fall or are allowed to be taken down to    
belong to the Parishioners [.....] to put or plant in a young tree    
or trees for the same and the said Mr. Elias Wright to allow the    
same ground as usual to the Poor People.

April 6th 1795:    
     
Mr. Elias Barter agreed to put up a good [.....] to keep out any    
cattle from breaking into the ground allowed to the Poor    
[in the orchard] for on guinea for a term of Twenty one years and    
Mr. Elias Barter to have fourteen shillings in hand [.....] [.....]    
and the other [.....] shillings at the end of the said Term and it is    
then allowed by Parishioners to be in good repair and not else.
