In the Name of God Amen This twenty Seaventh day of March Anno Dom 1699 I Richard Goodman of Salcombe in the County of Devon mar being of Sound & Perfect Health Mind & Memory praised be God And not knowing how it may please God to deale with me being bound in a Voyage to the East Indies But considering the Uncertainty of this Transitory Life doe make & declare these presents to containe my Last Will and Testament in manner and fforme following (That is to say)ffirst and principally I commend my Soule into the hands of Almighty God hoping to be saved through the Merritts Death Passion and Resurrection of Jesus Christ my only Saviour And my Body to the Earth or Seas which it shall please God and As for my Worldly Estate Vizt All such Wages sume or sumes of money Lands Tenements Goods Chattles and Estates whatsoever or wherewith at the time of my decease I shall be possessed or invested or which shall then belong or of right Appertaine unto me I Doe give devise and bequeath unto my Loving Sister in Law Elizth Bewick of St Katherine by the Tower Spinster and do nominate & Appoint my said Loving Sister in Law Elizth Bewick sole Exectrx of this my Last Will and Testament And Doe revoke all former Wills and Deeds of Gift by me at any time heretofore made And doe Ordaine these presents to stand & be for and as my Last Will and Testament for ever Wittness my hand and seale the day & year first above written
