"STOW-MARIES, a parish in the hundred of DENGIE, county of ESSEX, 5½ miles (S. by W.) from Maldon, containing 242 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Essex, and diocese of London, rated in the king's books at £18. 6. 8., and in the patronage of the Rev. G, H. Storie, The church is dedicated to St. Mary and St. Margaret. The parish is bounded on the south by Crouch river."
