"MYERSCOUGH, a township in the parish of Lancaster, hundred of Amounderness, county Lancaster, 3 miles S. of Garstang, and 6½ N. of Preston. The township, which is of irregular form, is situated on the Wigan railway and near the river Wyre. The chief part of the land is a forest belonging to the Duchy of Lancaster. Myerscough is the principal residence. There is a free school endowed with land, the gift of an unknown benefactor."
