  • All shorthand contractions in the document have been reproduced as written.
  • Where the age is given in "Months" this has been contracted to "Mon" in the transcription.
  • The abbreviations are :- "Agr Lab" = "Agricultural Labourer", "Do or Do" = "Ditto", "F. S." = "Female Servant", "Farm Stewd" = "Farm Steward", "J. Blsmith" = "Journeyman Blacksmith", "Jno" = "John", "Ind" = "Independent", "M. S." = "Male Servant" and "Shoe M" = "Shoe Maker".
  • In other documents and transcriptions the following alternative spellings have been seen which appear to refer to the same people/places:-
    Boore/Bore, Bowels/Bowles/Bawels, Haunton/Hanton/Hanten/Hamtom or Homton(1851 Census), Lovdy/Lovedy/Loveday, Mallows/Mallons, Murton/Menton/Minton, Randle/Randall/Randel.

  • In 1851 Census in Kenninghall there is a "Robert MURTON" (born Wilby) whose trade is "Agricultural Machine Maker".
  • The following are noted from Wilby Parish Registers:-
    Baptisms
    • Entries 63,70,76,82,83 show children of John and Harriet HOUTON/HAUNTON/HANTON.
    Burials
    • Entry 83 - Anne ATMORE of Harling was buried aged 90 years on 21/Mar/1849.
    • Entry 117 - Mary LOVEDAY was buried aged 72 years on 28/Aug/1857.
    • Entry 146 - John HANTON was buried aged 68 years on 30/Jul/1869.
