"THEALE, a chapelry in the parish of Wedmore, hundred of Bempstone, county Somerset, 7 miles S.E. of Axbridge. This district, formerly a marsh, has recently been improved by drainage, and comprises much rich pasture land. The living is a perpetual curacy in the diocese of Bath and Wells, value £100, in the patronage of the Dean of Wells. The church was erected in 1824."
