St. Mary and St. Peter's Church, Hull

St. Mary and St. Peter's Church, Hull
71. HESSLE ROAD. St. Mary and St. Peter's Anglican church, Dairycoates. The church was consecrated in 1902 to serve a district taken from Newington parish, and eventually assigned in 1906. It was designed by W.S. Walker of the Hull firm of Brodrick, Lowther and Walker. Red brick with terracotta mouldings in Romanesque style. The church was deconsecrated in 1962, a replacement church on the opposite side of Hessle Road being consecrated on the same day. This new church added to an existing hall and designed by Hull architect Allanson Hick was closed 1969 and has subsequently been demolished. The old church building was taken down in February 1962 to make way for the Hessle Road flyover which replaced the Dairycoates level crossing. [The Lost Churches and Chapels of Hull]
